I would take my .357 Magnum out for a bike ride

The following is from the Dayton Daily News:

No charges for former mayor who shot, killed 10-pound pooch

Mike Day said told deputies he feared for his life when Precious chased after him on his bike.

SEVEN MILE — Butler County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing an investigation to determine if any laws were broken last week when the former mayor of Seven Mile shot and killed a dog he said was attacking…
Deputies were called to the 100 block of Ritter Street at about 10:45 a.m. Nov. 3 on a report of shots fired and a dog running loose…A type of scary killer dog.

Mike Day, 55, said he and his wife were riding bicycles when a dog, a terrier mix named Precious, ran at the couple and caused Day to fall off his bike, according to the sheriff’s report.

Day said they were trying to ride away when the dog came back again and tried to attack them. That is when Day said he fired five shots from his .357 Magnum handgun, hitting the dog at least once. The13-year-old, 10-pound pooch died at the scene.

The dog’s owner, Linda Spencer, said Precious along with her canine sister, were both in cages on the back porch and she did not know how the dog got free.

Day told investigators it was not the first time the dog has run at him when he rode past the residence. Day also showed the deputies Seven Mile identification and badge and advised he worked for that village’s police department, according to the report.

Mayer said detectives still want to talk to another person before completing the investigation to determine, “what if any crime actually occurred.”

What the hell? How on earth are you in fear for your life when a 13 year old, 10 pound terrier is chasing you? And why in the hell do you have to have a loaded handgun to go for a bike ride with your wife? Is the little village of Seven Mile really like Eight Mile in Detroit?

My opinion is this guy is a whacko who needs to seek some therapy. I think I would have to wait until he ran out of bullets and then kick his butt for shooting my dog.

Does anybody else think that he planned to shoot the dog? He says it had chased him before, and lets be realistic, even Charlton Heston wouldn’t strap on a handgun for a bike ride.

Interesting that one of the searches that brought someone to this page was for “How can I take my little pooch when I ride my bike”

If you are in Seven Mile, Ohio, you get it a bullet-proof vest!
