Ohio gun dealers seeing surge in sales
In case there is a little dog in your neighborhood that has chased you a time or two, go out and buy a gun to shoot it now!!!
According to the Dayton Daily News, Ohio gun dealers are busy selling guns to the crazy people who think the Democrats will violate their second amendment rights and outlaw the sale of guns. I guess this means Biden won’t shoot anyone on a hunting trip
Not surprisingly, Bill Goodman’s Gun and Knife Show has seen a drastic increase in attendance over the last few months.
From newsnet5.com:
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said many of the weapons were sold through gun shows. Some lawmakers said those shows are a huge source for illegal guns.
Under federal law, if someone buys a gun at a licensed dealer, a check is made on his or her background. But if someone buys the same gun at a gun show — or out of the back of someone’s car — there’s no background check required.
Critics of the so-called gun show loophole said 17 states have now acted to make such sales by unlicensed dealers illegal.
“You have to have some check done before you make that sale, which means this guy’s sales to criminals would have been stopped, but Ohio doesn’t have any restrictions like that, and that’s one of the reasons it was so easy for him to operate like this in Ohio,” said Elizabeth Haile with the Brady Center.
Gun control advocates said Mark Andrew Nelson’s case is unique because of the mind-boggling number of guns he put on the streets. They said it’s just one example of how traffickers get guns from legal dealers into the hands of criminals.
Even our own Republican Senator (who was not reelected during our tenure as a red state) Mike Dewine tried to support legislation to require SOME type of background check and end these illegal sales. Of course whacko republicans like Orrin Hatch say that these measures are just efforts by the liberals to take away your guns.
One of the pawn shop owners, who deals mostly in hunting guns and high end collectible guns has not seen his sales on the rise. Wonder what that means. Will there be more crazy dog shooting rednecks roaming the streets of Ohio?

Did you actually write this. Whackos huh well as history repeats itself check it out. Before any major political surge that takes the lifes of thousands there has always been some sort of gun control. Just an easy one for you to find is Germany’s laws right before Hitler and the Nazi’s went on their reign of terror. The most current is Australia check out their crime rates now after there supposed helpful gun control laws. The muslim that is our president elect is definatly in support of gun control laws that will take guns out of law abiding citizens hands and leave them in the hands of criminals. Do some checking before you rant and make yourself sound like an idiot. It is plain to see that the only informaton you have was told to you by your six o’clock news and I am willing to bet that you think it is totally unbias reporting of 100% truth like the millions of cattle drove americans. Get outside of the box(tv) and look into some things maybe you will open your eyes.
Awesome that you think I sound like an idiot. Maybe I didn’t make myself clear when I was talking about the gunshows being a huge source for guns used in criminal activities. Maybe you should do some research. There have been bipartisan efforts to change this.
You don’t complain about registering to vote do you? Kinda the same concept smart guy.
Maybe background checks and waiting periods could have prevented that VA tech shooting. Just speculation, but something to think about nonetheless.
Maybe this line from ohiogunshows.com/rules.html will help you to understand what I’m saying:
“You must require photo ID when selling any firearm. If you sell to a minor or felon, you may be arrested, convicted of a crime and sent to prison. ”
The point is a photo ID does not tell you whether the person is a felon. You can’t tell it by looking at them either.
John Hancock and Samual Adams would not have been allowed firearms if the govt. could have decided their RIGHTS based on background check. They had warrants for treason.
Way to go history buff! Times are a bit different now. I don’t seem to recall those guys being able to run around with semi-automatic weapons. Please correct me if I’m wrong…
You disagree with background checks for gun purchases? You want murderers, thugs and thieves to be able to have guns in Ohio? Very smart. Thank God for the 2nd Amendment and your ability to compare common piece of trash criminals to the founders of this country.
Brilliant!
I think you are referring to our founding fathers work as trash. It was a level playing field then. But not now LEOs and the govt have full automatics.
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjerman Franklin
It appears you might fall in this category.
Ahh, that good old Benjerman was a smart fella!!!
Read the Second Amendment, it in no way says go to a gun show and buy guns for illegal purposes. Independence of a new nation is way different than what I am talking about. Its also way different than the politicians that have supported these measures are talking about.
FYI, this is the Second Amendment:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Here is one source that can explain the origin and reasoning behind it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution
And you really ought to find the spell check settings in Firefox. Then you might not have written Benjerman
Here are some references on your quote:
http://www.futureofthebook.com/stories/storyReader$605 – this one has the actual quote, which is quite different than your phrasing. Nice try.
http://www.ushistory.org/franklin/quotable/quote04.htm
Benjamen is harder to spell than “no”.
“Read the Second Amendment, it in now way says go”
Quote wikipedia??? you lose.
Nice edit there
Oh you’re just precious, but I think since I actually know what the Bill of Rights says, I think that means I win.
If I were more spiteful, I’d point out that you spelled it wrong again and maybe you should just go with Franklin :}
you may know more but care less.
I didn’t answer you question.
“You disagree with background checks for gun purchases?”
No. Crime needs more consequences, the answer is not more laws.
Thank god the constitution doesn’t outlaw spelling:) . You cover yours up with a slick edit I don’t.
Its cool.
If you are so concerned about the safety of others why not talk about the mothers that let there unborn children get murdered? Isn’t life an inalienable right?
@Hancock
Hello, I’m actually the one who made the nice spelling corrections. Didn’t realize it was becoming a point of discussion here. I apologize to you and WhoSucks, it’s a compulsory disease that inflicts anyone with the power to make edits but I’ll desist =(
If our readers are curious about the Bill of Rights, they can most definitely JFGI but for those too impatient, they can check the following:

cathrine,
as far as “Hello, I’m actually the one who made the nice spelling corrections. Didn’t realize it was becoming a point of discussion here.” I didnt make it a point on the discussion.
Also why didnt you fix my mistakes?
I am done here. All I say is enjoy your rights and freedoms while you have them, and pray for the generations to come.
Good Day
@Hancock
A) I never edit our readers’ comments [edit]
B) I thought your Benjerman spelling mistake may have been intentional [edit]
Guess that means I win.
We were happy to have your comments here, thank you and come again or feel free to sign up in the forums where you can tell us about any sucky establishment or experience you’ve had:

And a good reason for not editing the spelling of Benjamin was the multiple ways to spell it wrong. I would just stick to using B. Franklin if I were you.
Just a note/correction/clarification:
When purchasing a firearm at a gun show most exhibitors (vendors) are FFL dealers and DO require the NICS background check. Only private individuals selling to other private individuals are exempt from this requirement. There is no restriction nationwide that prevents an individual from selling a firearm to another individual of legal age. If the buyer is a felon they are committing a crime by purchasing/possessing a firearm. There is no loophole in the law for gun shows and there are laws in place regarding felons and firearms. The problem is criminals don’t follow laws! To enact more laws to prevent people, who by definition do not obey laws, from possessing that which is illegal for them to possess is ludicrous. Lets enforce the laws we have.
I love how you gun advocates don’t read what is written and just go off spewing NRA blather
Amazing how many incorrect facts you have in this article.
Perhaps you should check out the facts that are available. I have not seen any information here from a gun advocate that is not correct. Perhaps you are just spewing Brady blather….
Stop the VA Tech shootings… That individual planned what he was going to do. The fact that he did not pick these guns up on the street is a miracle. Perhaps if the school allowed concealed carry and someone would of had a weapon to stop this crazed idiot, the result might of been different. More gun control is not the answer. Guns don't kill people any more than pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk, or spoons make people fat. What part of shall not be infringed don't you understand.
The time has changed but the people who use guns to kill people have not. People kill with guns, guns don't kill by themselves. The fact is if the rules currently in place were enforced criminals would not have guns.
Keep in mind, fellow readers, this here was inspired by a previous post about a nut job who shot a dog. If you're not going to follow along with the appropriate context, then why are you wasting time spewing your fanatics here instead of someplace where it's actually on topic? Gee…
Oh hay guys, we got more comments. How exciting…
Jim
I think you should consider delving into constitutional law. Forget the other stuff!
Maybe, just maybe, I have a slightly different opinion about why the Second Amendment exists.
Please enlighten us, Jim!
Again, the article in question and comments from the gun advocates have been somewhat irrelevant or irrational. Take the time to read please.
Please support this if you would. I'll admit to being wrong, if I'm wrong, please show me proof.
Incorrect facts, huh? Isn't that a bit of an oxymoron?
I would love to hear why you think the second amendment exists. I am sure it will be educational or at least amusing.
I will address at least a few of the incorrect statements in the above article. First I don't call you crazy for disliking guns so I am not sure why you consider everyone who purchases a gun crazy, this appears to be the liberal policy when you can't deal with facts then you attempt to impune someone with insults.
Second one one has to look at Obama, Biden, Holder, Pelosi, or Boxers voting records to see why someone would be concerned for the second amendment. These people have consistenly always voted to ban guns, ammo or generally make like difficult to own a gun.
The fact about if you buy a gun at a gun show there is no background check is false. If you buy a gun from a dealer at a gun show they are required by law to do a background check. If you buy a gun from an individual at a gun show then there is no background checks. This would be the same as you selling a gun to a relative or passing a firearm down to a son or daughter.
It would be great if laws would be enforced that already exist and guns were taken out of the hands of criminals. When you outlaw guns the only people that have them is criminals. Documentation all over the Internet proves that gun ownership lowers crime rates across the board, take DC. Before guns were outlawed crime rates were lower than they are today. When concealed carry is enacted in a state, the crime rates across all statistics fall. Where I live the Police are 40 minutes or so away if called. If someone is breaking into a house and the police are not there you can't depend on them.
Long and short I respect your position if you don't want to own a firearm, as long as you respect my right to own a firearm.
You asked for details on what is wrong in your article and this post corrects your details.
Perhaps you can check out this article that I wrote and will understand what the founders meant when they wrote the second amendment.
http://mansfieldnewsjournal.com/article/2009021…
What is your point?
If anyone one has a question about why the second amendment was created or what the intent was please watch this video
http://www.ohiopatriot.net/2A/2amain.php
No, you wrote this article and quote items as fact, and they were incorrect.
The pont is, you don't bother to read, so you ramble on about irrelevant things.
And once again Jim, proof? Or do you mean facts like creationists do?
Jim
That wasn't an article. That was a letter to the editor with some quotes.
Thanks for trying though!
Once again insults when you can't comment intelligently. I read the article and commented above. As far as promoting the website, it needs no promoting.
because people are incredibly silly and don't actually read or have the common sense to differenciate a quoted article from original text, the blockquote tag has received a make over. hopefully this helps. doubtful, but hopeful.
Here’s one for the people who call it the “so-called gun show loophole.” Thank you New York City!!!

What was that Agent Mulder used to say? Oh yeah, The truth is out there ;0
And as Scully says, “I’ve heard the truth. Now what I want are the answers.”
Couldn’t resist, those two are like a package set – can’t have one without the other. It’s a ‘buy one, get one 1/2 off’ deal. =)
Just when you thought we couldn’t get any nerdier…
