i am sick and tired of having to deal with these people. dial up through Earthlink sucks ass! when you finally get a good speed (32.6 is the highest i've ever gotten) you get dropped within minutes. when i called tech support i was told it was my modem and all of the problems were on my end. so i got a new modem and GUESS WHAT? it wasn't my modem at all. go figure. so the next time i called, after waiting on hold for over half an hour to talk to someone i can't understand, i was told it was my drivers. so guess what? updated my drivers and they weren't the problem. so i naiively call back a third time. this time it's my phone line. so i have the whole line replaced, a new jack put in, and new phone cords put in. but you guessed it, the connection is still shit. so instead of calling tech support back i call and ask about DSL, Wireless, or Broadband availability in my area. apparently, my town doesn't exist. the woman said that my next door neighbor could have it and i couldn't simply because of a box....? and that it would cost the company to provide this service to the 500 people in my town who have signed petition after petition for highspeed. so apparently charging $20 a month to 500 people isn't enough of a profit to give a damn. what kills me most though is we're in the direct middle (picture a dart board's bullseye) of 3 towns 10 to 15 minutes away that have this service. hmmmmmmmm that makes a lot of $#chicken*@! sense doesn't it? earthlink needs to get their heads out of their asses and fix whatever the hell is going on. and it would be great if they could start taking accountability for their actions instead of telling a paying customer (who has never been late on their bill by the way) that all of the problems are on their end. it's bullshit and i'm sick and tired of it.
